Lord Brihaspati is represented in the solar system by the planet Jupiter. He is regarded as the Priest of all Gods. Lord Brihaspati is worshipped on Thursday, as it is dedicated to the planet Jupiter. Lord Shiva has blessed Lord Brihaspati with a solar system because he propitiated Lord Shiva as a sage. Jupiter is considered the one mighty planet of the solar system after the sun. Brihaspati's position in astrology and an individual's horoscope can either make or break one's life. Jupiter or Brihaspati symbolizes prosperity, knowledge, children, and partnerships.
The legend associated with Fasting on Thursday
A devoted king lived in a village long ago, but his wife was exactly the opposite of his personality. One day, a sage visited their kingdom to collect some charity. In the king's absence, the queen asked the sage to get rid of money as she was fed up with the charity. The sage suggested that she get up late every Thursday morning and not clean the kitchen before preparing meals, washing clothes and hair on Thursday and advised her that the king must shave on Thursday.
The queen followed the sage's advice; this resulted in the king losing his wealth and grandeur day by day. Since the king did not have enough money to make ends meet, he went to the neighbouring country to earn a livelihood. He started selling the wood from the forest to the city. One day, back home, the queen was left with no food, so she sent her maid to get some food from her sister in the nearby village. The sister was engaged in Brihaspati puja since it was a Thursday and did not reply to the maid. The maid returned and told the queen about what happened there. The queen's sister followed the maid and explained that it is not considered auspicious to speak while offering prayers to Lord Brihaspati, else that Lord would not be pleased. When this happened was Thursday, and inspired by her sister, the queen also started observing fast on Thursday. She noticed that with time, their wealth was restored.
On the other side, once, the king forgot to observe the fast on Thursday. The very next day, he was arrested for stealing the necklace of the city's queen. In his dream, Lord Brihaspati appeared and told him how to come out of jail. The king kept the fast on the next Thursday, and the very next day, he was released from the prison as he got to know about the real culprit. When the king returned to the village, he saw his wife's life was changed, and there was prosperity in their house. The king asked the queen about these changes. She told about the magic of observing the fast on Brihaspativar and pleasing the Lord Brihaspati. After that, they started living an abundant and prosperous life.
People with harmful Jupiter often suffer from health ailments, poor wealth, or incomplete education. These people must perform remedies to strengthen their Jupiter to regain their happiness and joy in life.

बहुत समय पहले, एक गाँव में एक समर्पित राजा रहते थे, लेकिन उनकी पत्नी उनके व्यक्तित्व के बिल्कुल विपरीत थी। एक दिन, एक ऋषि कुछ दान लेने के लिए उनके राज्य गए। राजा की अनुपस्थिति में, रानी ने ऋषि से पैसे से छुटकारा पाने के लिए कहा क्योंकि वह दान से तंग आ गया था। ऋषि ने सुझाव दिया कि वह हर गुरुवार सुबह देर से उठता है और गुरुवार को भोजन, कपड़े और बाल धोने से पहले रसोई को साफ नहीं करता है और उसे सलाह दी कि राजा को गुरुवार को दाढ़ी बनानी चाहिए।
रानी ने ऋषि की सलाह का पालन किया; इसका परिणाम यह हुआ कि राजा दिन-ब-दिन अपनी संपत्ति और भव्यता खोता गया। चूँकि राजा के पास पर्याप्त पैसा नहीं था, इसलिए वह मिलने के लिए पड़ोसी देश चला गया। उसने जंगल से शहर में लकड़ी बेचना शुरू कर दिया। एक दिन, घर वापस, रानी को बिना भोजन के छोड़ दिया गया था, इसलिए उसने अपनी बहन को पास के गांव में अपनी बहन से कुछ भोजन प्राप्त करने के लिए भेजा। बृहस्पतिवार को बहन बृहस्पति पूजा में व्यस्त थी और उसने नौकरानी को कोई जवाब नहीं दिया। दासी वापस लौटी और रानी को बताया कि वहाँ क्या हुआ था। रानी की बहन ने दासी का पीछा किया और समझाया कि भगवान बृहस्पति को प्रार्थना करते समय बोलना शुभ नहीं माना जाता है, अन्यथा भगवान प्रसन्न नहीं होंगे। जब यह गुरुवार हुआ और उसकी बहन से प्रेरित होकर, रानी ने भी गुरुवार को उपवास करना शुरू कर दिया। उसने देखा कि समय के साथ, उनका धन बहाल हो गया।
दूसरी ओर, एक बार राजा गुरुवार को उपवास करना भूल गया। अगले दिन, उसे शहर की रानी की हार चोरी करने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया था। अपने सपने में, भगवान बृहस्पति प्रकट हुए और उन्हें जेल से बाहर आने का रास्ता बताया। राजा ने अगले गुरुवार को उपवास रखा, और अगले दिन, उसे जेल से रिहा कर दिया गया क्योंकि उसे असली अपराधी के बारे में पता चल गया था। जब राजा गाँव लौटा, तो उसने देखा कि उसकी पत्नी का जीवन बदल गया है, और उनके घर में समृद्धि थी। राजा ने रानी से इन परिवर्तनों के बारे में पूछा। उसने बृहस्पतिवार को व्रत का पालन करने और भगवान बृहस्पति को प्रसन्न करने के जादू के बारे में बताया। उसके बाद, वे एक प्रचुर और समृद्ध जीवन जीने लगे।
