Brihaspati or Jupiter is the most mighty solar system planet after the sun. It is also called the Priest or Guru of all Gods or the Universe. With utmost respect and admiration, Guru Brihaspati is regarded as the celestial mentor of the Gods.
Meaning of Brihaspativaar Puja
According to Hindu mythology, all seven days of the week are devoted to a particular God from the Hindu pantheon. Brihaspativaar means Thursday, also known as Guruvaar, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Brihaspati, the Guru of all Devas. The colour yellow is devoted to the day. The devotees observe fast on this day, perform puja and offer their prayers, bhog, flowers, and fruits to the Lord Brihaspati and recite the Vrata Katha to get blessed with good health, success, and prosperity. In some parts of India, the devotees worship the banana tree and water it religiously if there is no nearby temple or figurine of Lord Vishnu or Brihaspati.
Significance of Brihaspati Puja
In Hinduism, worshipping Lord Brihaspati or Guru (Jupiter) Devta every Thursday blesses the devotees with wealth, success, prosperity, health, cures sickness and stomach disorders and helps to remove all sins. The devotees also gain strength, courage, and long life. If Lord Brihaspati is happy and impressed, he grants the boon of motherhood to the childless, joyous life, ethical values, and professional success.
